Zechariah 14:9 “And the LORD will be king over all the earth. On that day the LORD will be one and his name one.”

Chapter fourteen is all about the coming day of the Lord. Many strange things will happen on that day according to the prophet. This is of course prophetic language and is not to be taken literally. The day of setting things right among the nations and the faithful looms large in the prophet’s eye. History has been moving towards the day of the Lord. Jesus made it plain that the last days were upon them. The coming of the Messiah set in motion the wheels that would turn us to the final end.

Jesus sits at the right hand of God, ruling the universe but the day is coming when He will give that up to the father. God will be One. The triune God will bring the last day and judgment will occur. The Heavenly Jerusalem will be set up and all the faithful will be ushered into their heavenly home. Even though many preach that the dead go immediately to heaven that is not true. After the judgment, the righteous will go and the non-righteous will not. Paul made it clear in his letter to the Thessalonians that no one is getting a head start.

Task for Today: Serve the king who is on the throne today. You will then be invited to serve the one true King in heaven. The day of the Lord is coming and it is coming not for you but for the Lord. It will be His day and He will destroy evil and reward righteousness. Think about that as you go about your tasks today.
