Hebrews 12:28

“Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe…”

Why do we cling so tightly to things that can be shaken when God has provided that which cannot be shaken. Why do men insist on an earthly kingdom with an earthly headquarters and an earthly city? Jesus made it plain that His kingdom was not of this earth. If Jesus had intended to set up a throne in Jerusalem, all the Rome’s in the world could not have prevented it, and He as much told Pilate, Rome’s representative that. Some people teach that Jesus had to postpone ruling in Jerusalem because of opposition.

When has earthly opposition stopped God from doing what He planned? A king does not need to ask the people if he can rule. If he is king, then he rules by his power, not be their consent. The idea that Jesus had to give up God’s plan from the beginning until a better time is ludicrous. Jesus was sent by God; we are told by God, at just the right time. Just the right time. Was God wrong? I would rather believe that men are wrong who doubt God’s ability and desire to accomplish what He sets out to do. Jesus came to set up a kingdom, and that is precisely what He did. You can be a part of it now because Jesus is reigning now.

Task for Today: If you are waiting for a future reign of Jesus on this earth, you are wasting time you could be spending in His reign now. If you prefer the idea of an earthly kingdom in Jerusalem rather than a heavenly kingdom in the spiritual Jerusalem, you are missing God’s great plan for your spirit. Don’t hold on to earth. Let it go. Embrace the heavenly king and His heavenly kingdom.
