Psalm 16

“I say to the Lord, You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” (Psalm 16:2)

O if only the world could grasp this great truth. So much time, effort, and money are being spent looking the good things when they are offered free if we but trust in the Lord. Who is your God? We might be saying to money, “You are my Lord.” We might say it to sex, drugs, or numerous other idols. Whatever we say it to, if we don’t say it to God, there will not be any good produced.

This world is an evil place, and because of that, there is little good to be found in it. What good there is the good God is allowed to share. The thoughts and intents of the heart of mankind are evil continually. It is not in man to direct his own steps. There is none that does good no not one. But God is good, and He is always good. Every day and every hour of every day God is good and those who make Him their Lord have that good in their lives. The world offers evil, and God offers good, and men chose the world. Doesn’t make sense, does it?

Task for Today: Who is your Lord? Do you serve Jesus as Lord or the world as Lord? How do you spend your time and effort? Are you more interested in what the world offers or what God offers? Today, deny the world, it can offer you nothing good. Today, choose Jesus and make Him the Lord of your life. You will receive good.
