“If indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus.” (Eph. 4:21)
In a day when the false news is the news, what is a person to believe? If the newspapers can’t be trusted and neither can the TV networks how do we find out what really happened. Can we trust the politicians? Can we trust the banks? What about witnesses or even our friends?
Lies are everywhere, and it seems on every tongue. Nowhere is the search for truth more important than the search for eternal salvation. Jesus put it well, “What profit is it to gain the entire world and its treasure and in the process lose your immortal soul?
The consensus of every tribe’s history is that man has offended God and stands in danger of being consumed by that God at the end of the world which is also a vision of every nation. The long searching cry of the ages is “What must I do to be saved?”
This question is still being asked in today’s more modern world. There is still a feeling that God will require an answer for the sins of man. Everyman knows he is a sinner and thus the cry for a truthful answer.
Here is an absolute quality of every man and women on the face of this earth since the beginning of time: mankind is capable of lying. Many tell the truth most of the time, but you cannot completely rely on humans to tell the whole truth every time.
Paul tells us there is a source of truth. That source is Jesus. Jesus, the Son of God. Jesus, one of the three members of the Godhead. Reminds you of the scripture that says, “…let God be found true, though every man be found a liar, as it is written,” Rom. 3:4. If God said it it is true. Keep that in mind. God cannot lie according to Titus 1:2. When a thing is said by God, Jesus or the Holy Spirit it is absolute truth. It is how truth is measured. If God is not truth, then there is no truth. We can believe nothing for all but God lie.
The truth has great power. Most importantly it has the power to make a person free. That is because, it, the truth, contains the words of God to mankind telling him how to be free from his sin. Salvation is possible when one follows the commands of God, his son Jesus, or the Holy Spirit. The answer to mankind’s question, “What must I do to have eternal life?” is answered by the Trinity. Begin with Acts 2:38.
Task for today: Take what men, any men or man say, with a grain of salt. Believe God who cannot lie and will not lead you down a long path. Have a question? Ask God. He has revealed all we need to know in the Bible that pertains to life. Check him out.
