Comments on Ephesians

Chapter 2, Verses 11, 12, 13 “Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called ‘the uncircumcision’ by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands—remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”

Without Christ there is no hope. Without Christ there is no access to God. Without Christ there is no covenant with God. In Christ humanity has received circumcision of the heart in baptism. In Christ all have been brought close to God through His sacrifice. In Christ all are made a part of the new Israel, the Kingdom of Heaven. In Christ, all receive every promise God has for His children.

In Christ there is hope. Dust to dust is not for those in Christ. In Christ one dies to sin and the old man is destroyed allowing the new man to rise from the dead and take his place. In Christ there is access to God. Ask anything in my name, Jesus said. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you because you belong to His Son.

We are no longer far off. We are close. We are no longer strangers but welcomed children. We have a new covenant in Christ. That covenant includes the forgiveness of sins and a promise to never leave us. That covenant makes us permanent members of God’s Kingdom, His family, and His church.

Task for Today: Get in Christ. Stay in Christ. Walk in the kingdom and know the forgiveness of sins. Accept God’s grace and enjoy the blessings of his covenant.
