Know what the fastest growing religious worldview is today? Not Christianity or Moslem. Not any of the world’s known religions. It is secular humanism. It has taken over our colleges both public and private including religious institutions. It is totally changing the way we view the concept of right and wrong and is dramatically changing our view of what is ethical. The Secular Humanist boast that they will defeat their enemy, Christianity, through the educational system. They are well on their way in this country.
Secular Humanism is a religion. Paul Kurtz, a leading spokesperson and author for secular humanism says, “Humanism is a philosophical, religious, and moral point of view.” The U. S. Supreme Court listed Secular Humanism as a religion.
Webster’s New World College Dictionary defines secular humanism as: humanism that systematically opposes the introduction of religious ideas or standards into the functions of the state, especially into public education.”
“The fundamental question of ethics is, who makes the rules? God or men? The theistic answer is that God makes them. This distinction between theism and humanism is the fundament division in moral theory.” — Max Hocutt
“No inherent moral or ethical laws exist, nor are they absolute guiding principles for human society. The universe cares nothing for us and we have no ultimate meaning in life.” — William Provine
David A. Noebel in his exhaustive work, Understanding the Times, makes this point, “By rejecting any kind of purpose behind the existence of a code of ethics, one necessarily finds himself rejecting any code that may exist outside of man.”
This puts man right back where he was when Joshua told the Israelites prior to their entering the promised land. “You are not to do as we do today, everyone doing as they see fit” (Joshua 12:8). According to Jeremiah man cannot order his own way but according to the secular humanist that is exactly what man is to do. Like the Jews in the days of the judges, secular humanist do not recognize a king in the land and so do whatever they want.
Many of the new churches springing up across America today are calling themselves churches but in fact they are breeding grounds for secular humanism. They do not honor God as God. They deny creation at the same time they deny a creator. Secular humanism is the latest tool of the evil one. Don’t bury your head in the sand and ignore this movement.
