Heavenly Places (2)
Fourth use is in chapter 3, verse 10: “…so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.” In this verse the rulers and authorities must represent both good and evil beings in heaven. God’s great plan of redemption was not known by all the heavenly host. Now, the church would make that apparent both on earth and in heaven. The church led by the Holy Spirit would make God’s plan known to the heavenly places (1 Peter 1:12).
The fifth and final use by Paul is in chapter 6, verse 12 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” We are made aware that there are two cosmic powers in the heavenly places. Our enemy is not in China or Russia or even America, but is in heaven engaged in war against God and His people. We are in a battle with Evil itself. That is why we must, as reminded by Paul, wear the WHOLE armor of God.
Task for Today: Read the rest of this section of Ephesians and make a personal check list of the whole armor of God. Stand in front of a spiritual looking glass and see if you have all of it on. Your fight is not and will not be against a physical army in the ‘valley of Armageddon’. Do not waste your time fighting against men, but arm yourself against the Evil Ones.
