Chapter 1, Verses 19b, 20, 21 “…according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.”
Paul makes several references to heavenly places in this letter. Concerning his own experience, he had opportunity to visit the third heaven which to the Jews was the realm of God. (2 Cor. 12:2-4) The first heaven was seen as the atmosphere, the second as the space above the atmosphere, and the third as the home of God.
After His resurrection, Jesus went to the heavenly places and assumed His rightful place at the ruling hand of God. Jesus, reunited with God, now rules the eternal kingdom of God and will do so until the last enemy is defeated.
Task for Today: Remember that Jesus is King, above all other power in the universe. Remember that you belong to Him and live under His royal protection. Praise Him today as King of kings and Lord of lords.
