- Chapter 4, Verse 3 “You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.”
James is not necessarily judging your prayers, but he may be offering a solution to some prayers that weren’t answered like you wanted them. Thinking about our own prayers we are easily reminded of how basic it is for us to ask for ourselves rather than others and how easily it is to ask for things we don’t need but want.
Perhaps if we wrote our prayers out for a while we might get a good insight into what we are all about. Are there a lot of ‘I’s, me’s, and my’s’ in our prayers? In providing the avenue of prayer, God has opened the door to His treasure house of blessings. The question is do we pray with heavenly wisdom or earthly wisdom?
Task for Today: Find someone today who has less than you and pray for them to have more. Seek one who is weaker than you and ask God to lend them some of your strength. Most importantly, pray today that God will take from you and give to someone else because you have so much.
