Chapter 3,Verse 13 “Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.”
The next few verses leading into chapter four concentrate on the idea of jealousy and its very obvious results. James will be contrasting these things with the idea of wisdom. There is a great difference in the idea of heavenly wisdom and earthly jealously. The product of a wise and understanding person, one who has heavenly wisdom, will be obviously different than one who is guided by this world and its wisdom.
Every aspect of life should reflect the benefit of Godly wisdom in the life of a Christian. When James list all the troubles caused by the lack of wisdom, he makes it clear that God is grieved when we allow the world’s wisdom to overrule His heavenly gift.
Task for Today: Prepare for some straight talk from James. By all means look for yourself in his words, but hope not to find yourself. See God’s persons in James’ writing and try to emulate them.
