Habakkuk 2:20 “But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth keep silence before him.”
I used to see these words over the doors that led to the main auditorium where worship services were held. Somehow, Bible leaders thought this verse applied to worship services but that is not its point at all. We should enter the presence of God with singing and joyful noise. The assembly of the saints is a joyous time of celebration with their savior. We should come to an assembled worship to talk to God in song and prayer and to encourage each other with our praises to Him.
Idols are the subject in this verse. They are dead but God is alive. Idol worshippers have to shout to their idols, Arise, Awake but this is not necessary with God. No need to shout. No need to plead or cut your wrist or rend your garments. God is in His Holy Place, ruling over men. The earth should listen instead of calling out. God does what is right for all the earth.
Task for Today: You do not have to tread lightly into God’s presence. You do not have to live your life in fear of Him. Bring Him songs of happiness because He loves you so much. Enter His presence to praise not to sit silently in fear. Naysayers should remain silent but believers should shout for joy.
