Comments on Verses from Prophets

Micah 4:1 “It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and it shall be lifted up above the hills; and people shall flow into it,”

The beginning of Micah’s prophecy of the new kingdom or nation that God would set up with the coming of the Messiah. Jesus’ ministry was all about the kingdom that was coming, yea was upon them. The Kingdom of God, established by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus came in what Micah called the latter days. It is also called the fullness of time. As no one knew when the kingdom was coming so no one knows when the King shall come.

The kingdom is pictured as a mountain, the highest of all mountains. It would be the greatest of all kingdoms and its king would rule the world. In a land of hills a mountain is needed and in a land of mountains a very high mountain is needed. God’s coming kingdom, Micah says, will be visible and it will tower over any other kingdoms.

The kingdom will be inviting and people from many nations will seek it out and enter it. People will volunteer for this kingdom because it will be a kingdom of peace and prosperity. God will be king and His reign will never end.  This kingdom like a large mountain, will never cease. It will never be conquered and it will always provide salvation from sin and refuge from evil.

Task for Today: Are you in the kingdom? It is now here and millions have flowed into it. Forgiveness and peace are available to men of every nation. Have you answered the invitation? “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD?” What a blessing the kingdom of God is. Come, come today!
