Joel 3:16 “The LORD roars from Zion, and utters his voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth quake, But the LORD is a refuge to the people of Israel.”
In the midst of the day of the Lord comes solace. Calamites of major disaster are coming on the evil nations and even God’s people. Even the heavens quake. Earthquakes we know about but this describes something worse. The entire universe is shaken with the anger and wrath of God. Joel gives the warning of war involving multitudes and multitudes whose evil is great. God challenges them to prepare for war. It is a terrible war shown by the sun, moon, and stars turning dark. The judgment of God on evil is never a good thing.
Yet there is hope. God remains a refuge for those who worship Him with their whole hearts. God is protector of His people, the ones who obey Him. The harvest of evil is great but God opens a place of refuge for the righteous. This is an obstacle for those who believe God will not punish anyone in the end. The saved are limited to those who call upon the Lord and the survivors are the ones whom God calls.
Task for Today: God is calling you but are you calling on Him? God is not desirous of anyone losing their soul to hell but wants all to be saved. He paid the price of that salvation for every human being, dead, alive, or yet to come. Today, right now, in fact, call on God for salvation. Follow His instructions. He wants you in His refuge.
