Joel 2:28 “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.”
Here is a vision of the future Israel’s beginning. This outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit would come after the ascension of Jesus and bear witness to the beginning of the kingdom of God in the form of the church. We read about it in Acts chapter two. Peter explains what happened on that Pentecost by quoting this passage from Joel.
We mark that outpouring as the day the gospel was first preached and the church of our Lord was proclaimed. The apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to address the crowd of people in their native language. The tongues were unknown only to those that did not speak them. The tongues were not unknown to the native speakers. This was a miracle from the Holy Spirit but not the miracle some talk about today where they envision tongues that no one has ever heard before.
Task for Today: Reread this great story in Acts chapter two. When you get to the end of the chapter rejoice if you have been added to number of disciples of Jesus and if not, follow Peter’s advice and be added yourself. Greatest decision any human can make.
We are all moved in and internet is available in our new home. Hopefully, we will be able to finish the prophets in a timely manner. Thanks for your patience.
