Isaiah 25:1 “O LORD, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure.”
One thing produces another, and in this case, the prophet states the reason he intends to exalt and praise Jehovah God. The remainder of the chapter contains examples of the wonderful things, the faithful, and sure things. It is worthy of note that this is the only way to describe God’s works. All of them are wonderful, faithful, and sure.
This understanding of God, this faith we have in Him is based on the actions of God in the past and our beliefs in His deeds of the future. The Hebrews writer tells us that faith consists of not only believing God is but also believing that He does (Heb. 11:6).
Here are a few of the wonderful things the prophet is thinking of: God is a stronghold to the poor and needy, a shelter from the storm, provides His people with their needs. He destroys death for all time; He wipes away tears, He saves His people. Pre or post-Messiah, God is the friend of the faithful.
Task for Today: Here is a verse from the Old Testament worthy of memorizing or at least carrying around in our wallet or purse. It is a statement that we need to make on a regular basis. God has not only done wonderful things for others; He has done them for us. Right? If you agree, then tell others. Today, exalt God and praise His name!
