“Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and so many as innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.”

Two large ethnic groups came from Abraham, and in the generations that followed, their numbers multiplied beyond the ability to count. The miracle here is not the fact that Abraham had an unbelievable number of descendants but that he was able to have any children. Again we have the defiance of natural law. A man too old naturally to father children did. How was that possible? The fundamental fact that he was too old to father children would be dismissed by the unbeliever. They would contend that in spite of his age, he was still virile.

 Believers know that this is not the case. They know that because they believe God and God said Abraham was as good as dead. He was physically no longer able to produce viable sperm. Yet, God changed that. Not an accident or mistake or some aberration of nature but a purposeful act by God to fulfill His word to Abraham. God has always provided for the faithful.

Task for Today: Allow yourself to see past the natural world and accept the truth that God can do whatever He chooses with the natural laws. This will be a big boost to your personal faith. Don’t be surprised when the unusual happens in your life if it is a life of faith. There is an answer for everything that happens, and more than likely, the answer to your faith is God.
