“And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
What was the will of God? Was it not that He would come to earth as a Son and give His life that mankind could be saved from sin? That is exactly what the will of God was. Those who teach that Jesus failed in His mission because He was rejected by the Jews miss the true story. Jesus did not fail. God’s plan cannot be supplanted by the rejection of men. Jesus’ death at the hands of Jews and Gentiles was exactly what God had in mind from the foundation of the world.
The church established by Jesus was not the result of a failure on the part of Christ to accomplish the mission of a new kingdom. It was the kingdom God had in mind from the beginning. Those who look for Jesus to come back to earth to establish His kingdom are mistakenly thinking that God cannot bring about His kingdom when He wants to.
The offering of the body of Jesus Christ accomplished the removal of sins and complete sanctification for all who will be a part of that kingdom. They are living in the kingdom now, and when Jesus returns in the air for them, they will be a part of His kingdom in heaven. The earth will be destroyed as it contains evil and will contain those who refused the kingdom.
Task for Today: Are you sanctified through the offering of Jesus? Are you washed in the blood? Have you become a member of the kingdom of Christ? He is in heaven ruling that kingdom, which is comprised of the obedient hearts of mankind. If you answered no to any of these questions, you need to act today. For you personally, the death of Jesus will be for naught if you fail to respond to His call for salvation. Listen to the words of Jesus, “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.”(Mark 16:16). If you believe you must act on your faith and be baptized. If you don’t believe you don’t need to act.
