Hebrews 7:28

“For the law appoints men in their weakness as high priest, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever.”

One: the first appointed high priests were men who themselves were sinners.

Two: the weak high priests were appointed by the law which was given by Moses, a sinful man himself.

Three: the second appointed high priest was the Son of God, who was not a sinner.

Four: the sinless high priest was appointed by an oath from God, not a table of stones.

Five: the oath came after the law, which means that it took the law’s place.

Six: the sinless high priest is perfected for all eternity and so will never be superseded by another high priest.

Task for Today: Understand the process. Law gave high priests who were sinners. Oath of God gave a high priest who was sinless. You live under the second and last order of high priests. Cast your sins upon Jesus, who gladly bears them for you.
