“Now, it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking.”
Following the rule given by angels is not a good course for those who wish to accept the final salvation offered by God through His Son. The angels were powerful messengers of God, but they were not given charge of the world. They were not promised rule of the one to come either. Men were different, as Psalm 8 tells us. Speaking of mankind, the psalmist says, “Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet…” (Psalm 8:5, 6)
But when we look at our history in the world, we find we have not taken dominion over the creation at all. When man sinned in the garden, he was expelled into a world of great conflicts. The world was messed up and became combative to mankind. The world refused to submit to men because of their sin. Then one human came who was not messed up by sin. Because of His sinlessness, He was able to control the world as was intended in the beginning. He defeated the evil that controlled the world and won the crown of victory. That crown, at first, was made of thorns but soon was made of glory and great honor. True, Jesus was born lower than the angels, but because of His obedience was elevated to rule over them.
Task for Today: Want a crown like Jesus’s? Want to have dominion in the world to come? Follow Jesus. Obey Jesus. His word is God’s word and is the roadmap to eternal life and a crown of glory. Renew your reverence to the precious word of truth which can and will save your soul.
