“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands, they will bear you up lest you strike your foot against a stone.” (Psalm 91:11, 12)

We are familiar with this verse if we have read the book of Matthew. It is quoted by Satan in chapter four in the midst of his tempting of Jesus. It at least suggests that everyone, including the king of evil, believed that God did these kinds of things. Too bad the Devil quoted only these two verses and not the next two. Surely he had read them, but like many false teachers, he chose not to mention them.

This is both a prophecy of the Messiah and a statement about God’s care for His people in a more general sense. God is our protector; just as He was Jesus’ protector. Satan was limited in his attack of the Christ, and he is limited in his attack of believers. God is a shield about us, a refuge and a fortress. Trust Him with your soul, your forever life.

This is not a discussion of guardian angels per se, but it is a discussion of God’s protective care for His people. Whether one angel or ten thousand, God has our back. He has yours if you surrender to Him.

Task for Today: This verse is the promise of God to you if you are His child. Have you turned your life over to Him? Today is the day of salvation so don’t wait any longer to obey Him. Then trust Him. He overcame Satan, and He overcame Satan’s weapon, death. Nothing can hurt you because God has commanded your care. Not physically of course, but definitely spiritually.
