“Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” (Psalm 90:2)
Mankind comes and goes. Generation follows generation. All of us are destined for the dust from which we came. In verse 10 the psalmist tells us, “The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.” The permanent thing in all of this coming and going is God. He has been our dwelling place for all generations.
Earth is old. Some scientists say millions of years old. The universe is old as well. Very old they say. However you read it, that makes the creator of the universe and earth older. God is an everlasting to everlasting being. Without beginning or end. All the knowledge there is in the world is known by God. Nothing that is known by man is not known by God, and God knows what man can only guess at.
The created earth is beyond the understanding of men but not the understanding of God. As mankind learn more and more about the universe, they think they can solve the mystery, but they can’t. When they start to look at the cause instead of the effect they are without answers. They have guesses and theories but no evidence. They ignore the evidence of creation because they wish to ignore the creator. Since the only answer is God and they refuse to accept that answer, they will search in vain.
Task for Today: Rejoice in your faith. Take pleasure in that God has revealed the answers to the universe to you, scientist or not. You may not understand how but you do know who. Every time you see the evidence of the Creator around you, pause a second and say, “Thank you God for your work.”
