Build and stand for the land.

Ezekiel declares God’s disappointment with Israel for their behavior in the land he had given them. The people were guilty of unjust gain and shedding of blood. They had forgotten to worship God in the proper way. They were guilty of all kinds of sexual misconduct which God labeled detestable offenses.  They took bribes and made profit from the poor. God said, “…you have forgotten me”.

Any of this sound familiar to you? If it does read the entire 22 chapter of Ezekiel. It sounds like a modern  New York Times and CNN broadcast doesn’t it. Do you think Israel was going to escape that kind of life style? No way. Here is what God told Ezekiel, “So I will pour out my wrath on them and consume them with my fiery anger, bringing down on their own heads all they have done, declares the Sovereign Lord.”

What would have prevented this disaster to the land. Amazingly, God would have spared the land if he could have found one who would build up and stand in the gap of behalf of the Lord. Sadly, not one was found in all of Israel.

Will the Lord be disappointed in America today? Will any of us take the task to build up, to restore the wall? Are any of us prepared to stand before God in the gap on his behalf? Will we say it’s not our business to condemn evil and oppose detestable offenses. Will the Christian support music and movies that encourage the behavior mentioned in Ezekiel? Will we stand by and allow governments to commit atrocities against the poor of the world?

What people will rise up to build and stand. Will anyone speak in behalf of God? Let us pray today for men and women of God to rise up with courage and faith and condemn evil and declare for what is holy.
