Pass or Fail?

I personally never liked pass or fail tests or classes. I liked making a good score and never was afraid of failing, until I took German. With German, I would have opted for pass-fail in a heartbeat.

What about your self test? You know, the one where you examine yourself. The one where you seek to find out if you are in the faith or not. Paul says we should put ourselves to the test. Reason? To find out if Christ Jesus is in us or not. The passage came from the forty days of prayer scriptures for today. I’ll reproduce it here in case you don’t remember what he said.

2 Cor 13:5-8  “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you — unless indeed you fail the test?  But I trust that you will realize that we ourselves do not fail the test.  Now we pray to God that you do no wrong; not that we ourselves may appear approved, but that you may do what is right, even though we may appear unapproved.” NASU

Major test question, “Is Jesus Christ in you?”  What is your answer to this question. It’s pass or fail. This is not a percentage question and it can’t be answered, “sometimes”. He is or he isn’t. Self examination can be a little scary. Paul says a lot about doing no wrong and doing what is right. He’s talking about life style here. What is your practice? What should it be if Jesus is living in you.

Jesus is in the assembly on Sunday morning but he should be living in us every day of the week. I hope you pass the test.
