Jesus the Sacrifice

When John the Baptist saw Jesus he saw a lamb. No just an ordinary lamb but a special lamb. One lamb selected from all the lambs in the world to be the final sacrifice for the sins of man.

John 1:29-30  The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! NASU

Jesus, the God creator and Jesus the God baby was also the God sacrifice. The Son of God would also be the Lamb of God. He who never sinned took the place of every sinner. In effect he became sin. So much sin was on him that it overwhelmed him. He was buried with the burden of every sin of every man for every day the world existed.

1 John 3:5 You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin. NASU

2 Cor 5:21  He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. NASU

Only the sinless could take the place of the sinner. You could not die for me nor I for you. Paul could not die for the Jews, he could not save them even at the cost of his own soul. Only the Lamb of God could do that. Aren’t you glad he did? Do you believe in the Lamb of God? Do you believe that he who knew no sin took your sin and died so that you could live? Not just live but live abundantly, in this world but more important, in the world to come?

Thank you God for your unspeakable gift to me, the Lamb without spot or blemish in exchange for a man with both.  Praise God from who all blessing flow and today, I praise him for the gift of his only begotten son.

Jesus took my sins to Calvary’s tree, look what he’s done for me.
