Wonderful Story of Love

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:16, 17)

This love expressed by John was not new. God loved the world from the beginning. The problem was the inhabitants of the world did not return His love. Over and over again the Bible tells us about how God’s love rescued men. The first was in the days of Noah.

“The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the Lord said, ‘I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heaven, for I am sorry that I have made them. But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.” (Genesis 6:5-8)

This favor is the first expression of love from God to the evil world. God so loved the world that He showed it grace. Things could hardly get worse than verse five of Genesis 6 portrays and in spite of man’s evil for generations to come, God’s love prompted Him to give grace. So, God offers grace but it is up to man to accept that grace. Hard to believe, perhaps, but history shows that men have frequently rejected God’s gift. God calls all humanity to come to Him and be saved. We offer Isaiah 45:22, “Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.

Task for Today: Accept the story of love from God. He invites you to come to Him and be saved. Your choice to make today, for the Bible tells us that today is the day of salvation.
