Comments on James

Chapter 2, Verse 17 “So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.”

John is not anti-faith. He is pro-faith. Paul is not anti-works. He is pro-works as demonstrated by his life and instructions to Christians. Paul is against one trying to be saved and added to the church by some deed or deeds. Salvation into Christ is the result of grace not actions. But, as James is making clear, living as a saved person requires a ‘doing’ life style.

Task for Today: If you aren’t doing then start today. Read the passage from Matthew again. There is a list of places to start your Christian works. Put your faith to work.
