Zephaniah 3:17 “The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

O that all the prophets would end on such a high note. It is the promise not only for Zion on earth but for Zion in heaven. The new Israel will receive this promise. This is how it will end for the people of God. Zephaniah used several verses to describe what would happen to those who lived their lives in rebellion to God. He uses a few at the end to describe what will happen to those whom God rescues.

This verse can easily be applied to us alive today. This is God’s promise to all who have become a part of the new Zion, the Heavenly Jerusalem. Those who belong to Christ may claim this promise for themselves. Are you dismayed at the world you live in? Do you sense the coming of God’s wrath for such disobedience? Do you think about the end time; the second coming of Jesus and judgment of the world? If you are a child of God, a disciple of Jesus, then think instead on this verse.

Task for Today: Look around you as you progress through the day. God is in your midst. Trouble everywhere but God is a mighty one who will (not just can) save. Because you love His Son, God rejoices over you with gladness. You have made God happy by being a follower of Jesus. Today, as you move around in life relax, be calm, and experience peace because He loves you. God loves YOU. God is singing because you are His child. How does that make you feel? God is singing loud. Do you hear His song?
