Jeremiah 30:8 “And it shall come to pass in that day, declares the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off your neck, and I will burst your bonds, and foreigners shall no more make a servant of him. But they shall serve the LORD their God and David their king, whom I will raise up for them.”
Sin and its consequences are not necessarily forever. To quote a popular phrase, “Help is on the way.” That is Jeremiah’s sermon topic, and it is God’s message. It is His message for the people of Judah and of Israel. It is His message for all who have strayed from Him and found themselves slaves to sin. God broke the yoke of sin through the death of His Son, the King David, who God rose up for you.
Sin enslaves all of us with a terrible yoke of bondage. Bondage here on earth and bondage in the eternal sense as well. We are trapped by our own sins as far as eternity is concerned, and we are trapped by Adam’s sin as far as the world is concerned. There is only one hope of escape from the consequence of personal sin, and that is the blood of Jesus. We cannot escape the consequence of sin in the world, but we can avoid our personal sin consequence.
Task for Today: Have you been washed in the blood of Jesus? Have you yielded to King David, Jesus the Son of God? God has promised you salvation through that blood. Repent of your sins and be buried into the death of Christ; rise a new person free from the burden of your sins.
