Isaiah 55:8, 9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Through the words of the prophet, God explains why mankind has such difficulty in obeying God and following His counsel. Man does not and cannot think like God. Mankind has dim vision into the past, limited vision in the present, and is blind of the future. God has perfect vision in all three time periods. In addition, man’s thinking is marred by his ignorance of almost everything. And one of the worse things is man’s extreme lack of knowledge of good and evil.
In the same sense, our ways or not equal to God’s ways. Our thoughts are inferior, and our actions are just as inferior. The gap between our thoughts and God’s is not a small one either. It is a wide expanse. We humans lack the ability to grasp even a small part of what God has done and is doing. We can’t imagine it or understand it, nor can we anticipate it.
Task for Today: Can you just trust God today? I know you don’t get it, none of us get it. Like small children, we want to ask, “why?” As parents, we tell them, “because I said so,” because we know that they are not capable of understanding. We aren’t either, so we just trust.
