“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

In a world of constantly changing values, it’s nice to know that somethings don’t change. In a turbulent society and culture, when the ground seems to sway beneath our feet, we long for an anchor to hold on to.

In the storms of life, when winds blow the debris of life and scatter it abroad, we long for something secure. People change their minds and cause confusion in our lives. Governments change the laws, leaving us perplexed. Sometimes even those whom we counted on to keep us stabilized falter and fail us.

How comforting then should this verse be. No matter what else changes in our world, Jesus Christ does not. He is the same in every way, and His word is the same in every way. No matter what changes in our world, culturally or politically, Jesus changes not. He has no need for change because He is perfect. He is the Rock of Ages, an anchor steadfast and sure.

Task for Today: Stop swimming in the current of change. Grab hold of the hand of the man from Galilee. Hold to His hand; it is unchanging. As long as you are in the steadfast hands of Jesus, the culture cannot change you, and the politicians can not sway you. Hidden in the cleft of the Rock, all storms will pass you by.
