Hebrews 11:32

“And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets—“

The Old Testament is a very large book, and its pages are full of people who believed God to the point of obeying Him even when the future was earthly cloudy. The writer of our book feels he has given us enough examples, but he reminds us that there are plenty more where those came from. More and more terrific unbelievable stories of conquering faith. It’s a bit like John’s comment on things that could have been written about Jesus. The world could not contain the records if put to pen of all the acts of faith since the fall of man.

We know these stories, though, don’t we? We have heard them since childhood and have shared them with our children. Unbelievable stories of the power of faith, demonstrated over and over, character after character—testimony after testimony of the faithfulness of God to those who lived by faith. Not one story of failure on God’s part. Not one! Yet, we doubt.

Task for Today: Reread some of these great faith stories and allow your personal faith to grow or be restored. Generation after generation, the criteria for God’s salvation has been the same. “Those who come to God must believe that he is and that he rewards those who seek him.” Seeking God without having faith is a failure of major proportions. Today, see the proof in the past.
