“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
This is a warning, not a threat. It is a reminder of the other side of God. This is the God of the blessings and the curses. This is the God who offers a land flowing with bread and honey but also can provide a wilderness of hardship. This is the God who saves or condemns. This is the God who offers ever after peace and joy but also will provide ever after torment. This is a God who does not reward disobedience but does reward those who obey Him. This is a God who was loving enough to send His only Son to die for humanity. He is also the God who will punish those who reject that gift.
Don’t buy into universal salvation; the Bible does not support such an idea. And don’t buy into once saved always saved as the Bible does not support that either. The book of Hebrews was written to show that that is not the case. Those with faith can lose their faith, shrink away from their faith, or lose their faith. If you reject the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, there is no longer a sacrifice for your sins.
Task for Today: Maintain your faith. Stay strong in the faith. Feed your faith every day. Listen to the voice of God and spend time with the people of God. Walk in the light and stay away from darkness. Study the word, sing praise, serve others. God’s desire for you is that you find peace now and forevermore. His love calls you to heaven and not judgment.
