“How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?”
Many people would like to ignore this verse and the very tenor of it. They wish to reject it as being anti-God in its very concept. They would like to think of God as a one faceted being who can only experience one emotion and deal in one way. That denies God the ability to be multi-dimensional. The same book that declares how God loves lists things that God hates. It is a mistake to close our ears to those warnings about what God hates and how He will react to those who do them.
This verse asks an important question that is addressed to those who have known Jesus and then turned away from him. To deny the Savior is to stomp on God’s Son. It is to make the blood of Jesus an unholy thing. Such behavior angers the Holy Spirit. God cannot allow that to go unpunished. He will not allow it to go unpunished. Jesus warned against starting out and then turning back. Rejecting Jesus after accepting Jesus is a dangerous business.
Task for Today: Don’t be fooled into believing you can treat God any old way, and He will let it go. You cannot turn away from Jesus after accepting His salvation and expect God to bless you. Today, reaffirm your commitment to the Savior. Today, renew your dedication to His will. Stay faithful.
