Hebrews 10:2

“Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins?”

A logical question, right. If those under the law lost their consciousness of their sins, they would feel no need to go thought the same sacrifices over and over. Those who have been baptized into Christ understand that it does not need to be repeated over and over again as once the sins are remitted, they are no longer present. The fact that the law required the same sacrifices over and over was proof that those sacrifices lacked permanence.

This is a major comparison of the old covenant and the new one. The Moses covenant was a shadow that foretold what was coming. The covenant Jesus brought was the true form and was the essence of what was promised. The first could not make perfect, but the second could and did.

Task for Today: Want to lose your consciousness of sins? Come to Jesus for forgiveness. Accept His sacrifice for your sins. Losing consciousness of sins isn’t referring to remembering them but rather to being aware that you still have them. Be washed in the blood of Jesus, and your sins will be washed away.
