Hebrews 1:12

“…like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end.”

More of the same. Look again at the comparison the writer is making between the creation and the creator. One of them will end, and one of them won’t. Do you see it? The creation will be rolled up and discarded for something new. They will come to an end, and something new will begin. There will be a new (as in ‘brand’ new) creation in the spiritual world of our spiritual God. We will be changed too, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye we will be changed from earthly to heavenly. Our bodies will be rolled up like a robe and put aside. We will get new bodies; bodies that are suitable for the new place we are going.

The Son of God is eternal, and that part of us made in His image is also eternal, and the new world to which we are going is eternal. This world is not eternal. It and our worldly bodies will be dissolved. From dust to dust and then the fire that melts even the heavenly bodies.

Task for Today: Don’t put too much stock in the here and now. Don’t become too attached to the things of this earth. Remind yourself today that you’re just passing through this world and headed for the one to come. Set your eye on eternity today. The better spokesman, the better priest with better blood and a better covenant is preparing a better home.
