Psalm 140:6

“I say to the Lord, You are my God; give ear to the voice of my pleas for mercy, O Lord.” (Psalm 140:6)

First things first is a good way to proceed. To get mercy is to plea for it, but to hear the pleas for mercy God has to be listening. To be listening we have to establish that God is God for us personally. We cannot be asking for help from God on the basis that He is the God of our city, state or country. We can’t be pleading for His intervention into the troubles of our lives because our family has worshiped Him.

God’s ears are open to the righteous. His ear is not to dull to hear. What is the meaning here? “But your iniquities have built barriers between you and your God; your sins have hidden his face.” Get it? No problem with God. If we are short of mercy, we either aren’t asking, or we have failed to make God our own personal God.

Task for Today: Get one thing straight before this day is over. Choose this day who is your own personal God regardless of what others around you choose. Don’t wait to do this. Make a statement, such as, “As for me personally I will make God my only God.
