“From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen.” (Gal. 6:17, 18)
Paul has stated his case. He has made his argument. He is tired of the debate and the debaters. This letter is his answer, and it is Holy Spirit driven. If anyone wants to debate further, they can try God, but Paul has had his say. His work as an apostle has not been easy and in the years to come will be less so. Paul knows who he has believed and he knows the voice of Jesus and the guidance of the Spirit. Leave the law alone, he is saying and let God be in charge.
To the church, he offers the grace of Jesus. He is not angry with them. He is still their mentor and friend. He still loves the church in Galatia and the Christians there, including the ones who are stirring up trouble, but he wants the trouble to end. Let’s all live by grace.
Task for Today. Live in grace. Accept grace and give grace just like you’ve been given. If a brother is overtaken in a fault, go in the spirit of gentle grace and minister to them. Today, be at peace, God has already done it all.
