Chapter 1, Verse 14,^“But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.”

This is a challenging statement from James. Don’t blame God, don’t blame others (Adam), and don’t blame Satan (Eve). Every sin begins within! That is James’ message. When the inside is defiled it will only seek evil. We are warned in the scriptures to keep ourselves pure. This statement of James is the reason we should be seeking purity. Keep in mind that evil cannot stand the light and as long as we walk in the light evil cannot reach us.

The Christian has an edge because he has the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit nourishes good fruit inside us which can prevent unwanted desires. Lean on the Spirit, that is exactly why Jesus left Him with you. Hear His voice, feel His guiding hand, let Him have His way with you.

Task for Today: In touch with the Spirit? No? Do so today! Give Him the control of your heart and your desires. Temptation cannot find you in the arms of the Spirit. Abide with Him.
