Chapter 4, Verse 13 “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

This is Paul’s secret. His strength to overcome negatives in his life came from Jesus. He knew that Jesus was supplying his every need and so he had all he needed. Since Paul’s treasure was in his relationship with Jesus he never lacked what he needed. Once that point is realized the need is quickly transferred to want. If we have Jesus we will learn that He is also all we want.

Paul understood that every good and perfect gift was available through Christ. In the words of the psalmist, “…I shall not want” becomes a pattern of life. We can do all things through Christ who furnishes us all things needed for godliness which is the key to a contented life.

Task for Today: Take a good look at what you have in Jesus. Count your blessings found in Christ. Now look at your wants. What do you want that is greater than what you have in Him? If you can come up with anything, you don’t know what you have in Jesus and should immediately stop your wants and turn your life over to Him.
