Alive in Christ

Alive in Christ

Kenneth Boa in his book, Conformed to His Image, (p.270) wrote “Any dead fish can float downstream, but to swim against the current of our times, we must be spiritually alive.”

Our cultural world defines us based on our achievements within that culture. How we measure up depends on how well we match our lives with the cultural norms. The biblical norm, however, ignores the cultural world and focuses on the life of Christ Jesus. In the biblical norm it matters who we are over what we do.

The Christian is dead to the world but alive to Christ. The Christian is measured by his or her relationship to the Son of God. The Christian, then, is defined by the activities that flow from that holy relationship.

Task for Today: Are you alive in Christ? All other accomplishments are meaningless outside of Jesus. Don’t waste your life on worldly cultural pursuits but instead find your spiritual life in Jesus.
