Comments on Philippians

Chapter 4, Verse 9 “What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”

Paul has instructed them in the proper way to think and how it will affect their life’s outcome. Now, he turns to behavior. How should the Christian conduct himself? What kind of behavior is fitting for a child of God who is hosting the Holy Spirit of God? Paul is not going to ask them to do more than he has done. Paul has set the example. To walk the christian walk they just need to do what they had learned from him. He had taught them from the ground up and they just needed to do what they had heard from him. Paul had spoken and Paul had illustrated.

Do what I taught you, he said. Remember what you heard and took in during those teaching sessions. I left you an example, Paul is saying. I demonstrated what I taught. Follow me as I follow Christ is the message here.

Task for Today: We can’t watch Paul but we can read about what he did and we can read what he wrote. Like the Philippians, you would do well today to practice these things. What a great promise we have if we do.
