Dont’s With the Spirit

Three: Don’t speak words against the Spirit.

Mark 3:29 “…but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin—for they were saying, ‘He has an unclean spirit.’”

Blasphemy is the hardened, habitual denial of the power of the Spirit of God. It is the act of proclaiming the work of God to be the work of demons. It is not a spur of the moment thing but a decision to deny God the glory He deserves by His work in the Spirit by giving that glory to evil beings.

In Hebrews 11:6 we read, “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”

One cannot be saved without believing that God is God and those who speak of Him as the evil one are lost because they do not believe in Him. The Holy Spirit that brings sanctification cannot live in the person who speaks evil against God. There is no eternal forgiveness without the Holy Spirit and to blaspheme Him is to deny Him as God and to make Him an evil being.

Task for Today: Thank God that He has placed His Holy Spirit in you and thus has certified that you are saved by the blood of Jesus. His presence testifies to that fact. Rejoice in the Holy Spirit and He will help you to heaven.
