Comments on Philippians

Chapter 3, Verse 12 “Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.”

Paul has the resurrection in his viewer but he knows he has to walk the pathway to get there. Even this great man of God knew he had to keep pressing on to the higher ground. Some today preach that once you are saved you can’t be lost but Paul seems to think that he has to keep going forward in his walk to Heaven. He hasn’t obtained the reward yet but he intends to make it his own. When John said that walking in the light was a requirement he intended for us to see that it took more than just getting on the path. Every day we have to walk in the light.

As long as we walk in the light, (press on to make it our own) we maintain fellowship with Jesus and that will lead us to the resurrection so desired by Paul. Jesus has done all He needed to make us His own but we must press on to secure the crown.

Task for Today: Are you walking daily in the light? You believed, repented, confessed Jesus as Lord and were baptized. Then what? What are you doing to stay in fellowship with Jesus? John says you need to walk in the light. That is what Paul tells the Philippians he is doing. Walk in the light. Today!
