Comments on Philippians

Chapter 2, Verse 30 “…for he nearly died for the work of Christ, risking his life to complete what was lacking in your service to me.”

The Philippian church should welcome their brother back as a servant of Jesus Christ and do so with great happiness because he was still alive. Paul reminds them that those who are willing to give their lives for the sake of the gospel should be honored. We don’t know the details but it is obvious that Epaphroditus put himself in harm’s way for the work he was sent to do. He represented the Philippian church in Paul’s prison circumstance and gave his all to complete his task. Paul holds Epaphroditus in great esteem and wants his Philippian brethren to do the same thing.

Task for Today: All over the world men and women are giving their all for the gospel. They may be called upon to give their very lives. Honor them. Hold them in high respect. Lift them up in prayer. Share their stories when you can.
