Chapter 2, Verse 24 “…and I trust in the Lord that shortly I myself will come also.”
Don’t you love the optimism of Paul? We’ve been back and forth with him but evidently he has an idea of what God plans to do. Paul knows why he was called out of season. He heard God’s charge that he was a chosen vessel to go to the Gentiles and he had not finished that task by any means.
Epaphroditus, Timothy, and Paul all coming to Philippi. How excited the church must have been to receive this letter. Those dearest to this church, then in prison, but soon to be their guests.
Paul trusts in the Lord. This is a given, but in this instance Paul is indicating that he has great trust in God fulfilling His promise to him. Paul was in trouble a lot and God rescued him every time to keep him on course to preach to the Gentiles.
Task for Today: How do we develop this kind of trust? Keep a record of your personal rescues. God has a job for you and will see that you have the opportunity to do the job. Trust Him with your life, your plan of life. We were on track when we sang, “Trust and Obey.” Keep God’s plan in front of you and believe that He will be with you to the end.
