Comments on Philippians

Chapter 2, Verse 13 “…for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”

And, here is the key. The salvation work is God’s role. He forgives and He saves. His love grants grace and He requires no work or gift from us. Why did God give His Son as a ransom for the world? Because of His love. Not because of your deeds. Not because of your contribution or attendance at church services. Not because you have done many wonderful things in the name of Jesus.

Listen, God is patient with man. He wants everyone to repent and turn to Him. “Keep my words,” God says. No labor, no sacrifice, no unto others will bring you salvation. It is the gift of God (Eph. 2:8). To think for a second that we could outgive God is ludicrous.

Task for Today. Accept the gift! From the first book of the Bible and the first story in the Bible, God has demanded obedience. He made it a condition of salvation. Obey His commands, receive the gift. Receive the gift and obey His commands. Just do it! Oh yes, remember that when you fail, God offers grace.
