Chapter 2, Verse 8 “And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”
It is appointed to man to die. That is why Jesus Christ came to earth as a human. He came to die. As mention earlier, He took on the role of a human and part of the role of being human is birth and death. Jesus did both. In almost every way this idea is unbelievable. The served became the servant. The judge became the criminal.
This verse explains how God dealt with the sin of the world. God took care of sin with one final sacrifice. Man was destined for eternal punishment but God took the punishment upon Himself. Romans 8:3 tells us that God sent His own son to take care of our punishment.
Task for Today: We have just dealt with the most profound writing in the history of the world. The first few verses in Philippians chapter two explain as no commentary can the meaning of John 3:16. Jesus came that we might have life, and not just any life but an abundant one. Does that speak of your life? Today, live an abundant life because Jesus died a terrible death for you. Remember that you are the answer to Jesus’ question on the cross. “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matt. 27:46)
