Chapter 1, Verse 25 “Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith,”
Paul is comfortable with stating what he believes deep inside. God wants him to continue to minister to the Philippians and others rather than come home. Sometimes we see the big picture but our personal desires blur it a little. We can find some wiggle room if we continue to look for it. Paul ultimately couldn’t and still be true to his calling of apostleship by Christ. Paul, like so many of us, was saved to save others. Regardless of the personal cost or loss, this is what Paul had to do.
When Jesus told His disciples to go and preach were you included? Do you consider yourself a disciple? If so, then what is your obligation to the gospel. Paul already knows the intended outcome for his efforts. The Philippians were not yet full grown, not yet mature in the gospel. Plus, Paul knew there would be a need in the difficult times ahead for the Philippians to find joy and that was part of the task God was assigning to him.
Task for Today: Look around you today, next Sunday, or whenever you meet with the saints. Do you see an immature brother or sister? Do you see anyone who has lost their joy in practicing their faith? Will you intervene? You should, shouldn’t you? It might not be best for you, but it may well be necessary for them. Remain and continue with them just like Paul. What a great ministry God has for us.
