Jonah 2:1 “Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the belly of the fish, saying,”

Some say you have to kneel to pray keeping your head down. Some recommend standing lifting up your head and hands. Did Jonah have room to stand or to kneel? Not sure about that. Maybe he was lying down, enveloped like in a MRI machine. I’ve not been in a fish’s belly but I have been swallowed by an MRI machine and I found prayer lost no value in the prone position verses the standing or kneeling. If the argument was being made about the position of the heart then I think we could come up with some solid arguments for the heart to be on bended knees, head bowed, eyes closed and hands in supplication.

But, he did pray and that is the main thing. In fact, it may be the most important thing he ever did. Taking a cue from him, it may be the most important thing any of us ever do. How about it. Find yourself in the deep, over your head, drowning so to speak? Jonah did and it was of his own making just like ours usually are.

Task for Today: Don’t wait till the water closes in on top of you. Pray for deliverance now. Keep in daily touch with God. That keeps the lines open. That keeps you in touch. That keeps you from facing the darkness and deeps.
